"TRANSDICIPLINARY APPROACHES OF THE DIALOGUE BETWEEN SCIENCE, ART AND RELIGION IN THE EUROPE OF TOMORROW"
Sibiu, Romania,
9 - 11 September 2007
Archdiocese of Sibiu
Faculty of Theology "Andrei Saguna", Sibiu

"Science and Orthodoxy. Research and Education", the first national program within the Orthodox and post-communist world, is being developed in Romania, with the support of John Templeton Foundation. Due to the fact that Romania is recognized for the opening towards other religions and that the Orthodoxy offers a particular perspective of the dialogue between science, art, religion and between faith and reason, it will be discussed in a transdisciplinary framework. This congress comes in the context of the efforts to maintain the particularities of each religion, of each nation in a process of intense globalization.

The congress will be the opportunity of an international debate between science, art and religion in the cultural capital of Europe in 2007 - Sibiu. For the medieval city, known for a long time as Hermannstadt, this international recognition validates a long and rich tradition as a powerful symbol of the return of Romania in Europe in 2007. Its national and confessional plurality is suitable for the proposed dialogue.
