Gennaro Auletta
Born 1957, in Naples, living in Rome. PhD and PostDoc in Philosophy, University of Rome "La Sapienza". Scientific Director of the Specialization "Science and Philosophy" at the Gregorian University in Rome and Invited Professor at the University of Urbino. Scientific Director of the STOQ. Area of research: Quantum mechanics (especially foundational and interpretational issues), logic, cognitive sciences, information theory. Recent books: Foundations and Interpretation of Quantum Mechanics, World Scientific, 2000; 2nd ed. 2001; Introduction to Logics (in Italian), Roma, 2002; 2nd ed. 2004, a textbook on quantum mechanics is forthcoming at the Cambridge University Press.

Horia Badescu
He is Ph.D. in letters, poet, prose- and essay-writer, journalist, diplomat. He is member of Conseil d'administration de la Maison Internationale de la Poésie of Brussels and honour president of Europoésie Journal, member of Union des Ecrivains Français and of Académie Universelle de Montmartre, and honour member of Académie francophone and of the Union des Poètes Francophones, member of CIRET and of the international editorial board of Mémoire du XXIe siècle Journal. He is, also, founder member of Cultural Society "Lucian Blaga", member of the Writers Union of Romania, member of the Honour Committee of European Circle of French Poetry, POESIAS, member of the Scientific Committee of the International Institute of Poetry & Opera of UNESCO, Verona, Italy. He has published 21 volumes of poems, 2 novels, 5 critique essays. His works have been edited in Belgium, Bulgaria, France, Macedonia, Romania, Spain, USA, Vietnam. Also, part of his works has been translated and published in Armenia, Belgium, Bulgaria, Canada, France, India, Italy, Macedonia, Peru, Russia, Spain, USA, Vietnam. Ron Cole-Turner
He holds the H. Parker Sharp Chair in Theology and Ethics at Pittsburgh Theological Seminary. He is the author or editor of several books on theology and biotechnology, including "Design and Destiny: Jewish and Christian Perspectives on Human Germline Modification," forthcoming from MIT Press.

PS Sofronie Drincec, bishop of Oradea, Bihor and Salaj
Born in 1967 in Arad, in the western part of Romania. Begins the primary school in his native town, graduating secondary school at the National College of Mathematics-Physics Moise-Nicoara - Ioan Slavici from Arad. He studies General Medicine at the University of Medicine and Pharmacy from Timisoara, getting his license and the title of doctor in 1993. He continues his studies, this time at the Faculty of Theology from Arad, graduating in 1997. During his theological studies he becomes a monk in Hodoş-Bodrog Monastery, near Arad. He was ordained as deacon and priest for Hodos-Bodrog Monastery and then for St. Simeon Stalpnicul Monastery in Arad. After finishing his studies he organizes the department of Social Assistance from Arad Bishopric, and then he fulfils the submission as chef of Patriarch of Romania's Office, from where he is called, in 30 January 1999, by the Electoral College of the Romanian Orthodox Bishopric from Hungary, to be the Bishop of this diocese. After 8 years of serving as a Bishop in Hungary, time when he organizes the Bishopric and participates at many international conferences, he is invested, at 13 February 2007, by the votes of the Electoral Ecclesiastical College, as a Bishop of Oradea, Bihor and Sălaj diocese, in present being the Romanian Orthodox Bishop of Oradea.

Mgr. Aldo Giordano
He is an Italian priest who has been Secretary General of the council of European Bishops' Conferences (CCEE) since 1995. He taught philosophy for 16 years in the Fossano section of the theological faculty of northern Italy. His research and writings focus in particular on ethics and contemporary philosophy.

Antje Jackelén
Dr. Theol. She is Bishop of the Lund diocese of the Church of Sweden and Adjunct Professor of Systematic Theology & Religion and Science at the Lutheran School of Theology at Chicago, USA. She was director of the Zygon Center for Religion and Science 2003 - 2007. Her publications include Time and Eternity (2005; German original 2002), The Dialogue between Religion and Science (2004) and numerous articles in theology and religion-and-science.

Adrian Lemeni
PhD in Theology and graduate also in engineering. He is State Secretary for the Religious Affaires in the Government of Romania and Lecturer in Dogmatic Theology and Fundamental Theology at Bucharest University, Romania.

Rev. Tierry Magnin
Ph.D, Th.D, is Professor of Solid-State Physics at the École Nationale Supérieure des Mines of St Etienne (France). He won the prestigious Laureat Award of the French Academy of Sciences in 1991. His is also a catholic priest and general vicar of the diocese of St Etienne. The topic of his thesis in theology was "on the relationship between science and theology today". He has written four books on this field and more than two hundred papers and reviews on solid-state physics.

Basarab Nicolescu
Theoretical physicist at the Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique (CNRS), Paris, France. Professor at the Babes-Bolyai University, Cluj-Napoca, Romania. Member of the Romanian Academy. President-Founder of the International Center for Transdisciplinary Research and Studies (CIRET), a non-profit organization (165 members from 26 countries), which has a web site at: http://nicol.club.fr/ciret/. Founder and Director of the Transdisciplinarity Series, Rocher Editions, Monaco and of the Romanians in Paris Series, Oxus Editions, Paris. A specialist in the theory of elementary particles, he is the author of 130 articles in leading international scientific journals, has made numerous contributions to science anthologies and participated in several dozens French radio and multimedia documentaries on science. He is a major advocate of the transdisciplinary reconciliation between Science and the Humanities. He published many articles on the role of science in the contemporary culture in journals in USA, France, Romania, Italy, United Kingdom, Brazil, Argentina and Japan. HE Vincenzo Paglia, Bishop of Terni Narni Amelia.
Ordained as Bishop on April 2, 2000, he has been nominated as President of the Catholic Bible Federation by the Executive Committee and confirmation through the Holy See, in August 2002. From 2004 he's also the President of Commission for Ecumenism and Dialogue of Italian Episcopal Conference. Since the early 1970s Paglia has been involved with the Community of Sant' Egidio, being one of its co-founders. In 1973 he has been nominated as rector of the church of Sant' Egidio which had become the center of the Saint Egidio Community. In 1981 he is parish priest at Santa Maria in Trastevere and prefect of the Third Prefecture in Rome. Publications: Paglia regularly publishes articles in widespread Italian magazines. His academic and publishing activities concern esp. the fields of social history and biblical spirituality. Among his social studies those on prisoners and on poverty deserve special mention: La pietà dei carcerati (The Piety of the imprisoned), Rome 1980, La storia dei poveri in occidente (History of the poor in the West), Milan 1994. He is also the author of numerous publications in the field of biblical spirituality and pastoral ministry. Roberto Poli
(PhD Utrecht) teaches ethics at the University of Trento (Italy). He is editor-in-.chief of Axiomathes (Springer), a peer-reviewed academic journal devoted to the study of ontology and cognitive systems. He is member of the board of director of the Mitteleuropa Foundation (Bolzano), a recently established research centre in ontology and cognitive analysis (www.mitteleuropafoundation.org).
His research interests include the theory of values, ontology, , and the so-called Central-European philosophy. He has published 4 volumes, edited 20 volumes and more than 100 papers.

Jean Staune
Philosopher of Science, Secretary General of the Interdisciplinary University of Paris (UIP) and the author of ‘Notre Existence a t-elle un Sens?' (Does our existence have meaning?) published by the Presses de la Renaissance (2007), a book which reviews the areas mentioned in this resume, and ‘Science et Quete de Sens' (Science and the Spiritual Quest), published by the Presses de la Renaissance (2005), a collective book with contributions from 15 scientists including four Nobel Prize winners writing on the links between science and spirituality.

Marijan Sunjic
Professor of theoretical physics at the University of Zagreb and founder of the Study Group on Science and Spirituality, in Zagreb in 1940, where he graduated at the University. Doctorate from the Imperial College of Science and Technology, London in 1970. After a period at the "Rudjer Boskovic" Institute, in 1978 he joined the University of Zagreb. He was Deputy Minister of Science and Technology, Rector of the University of Zagreb, President of the Croatian Rectors' Conference and President of the Danube Rectors' Conference. He was also Ambassador of the Republic of Croatia to the Holy See.
Marijan Sunjic held visiting academic positions in Sweden, Denmark, Germany, USA and Italy. His main scientific interest is in theoretical surface physics, where he published more than 100 papers. He was also deeply involved and writes on higher education policy, university organization, and also in social and ethical implications of science and technology.

John van Breda
He has three post-graduate degrees in Sociology (cum laude), Theology and Philosophy (cum laude) and is currently working on a PhD proposal entitled "Transdisciplinary Hermeneutics". In 2005 he was responsible for organizing the first workshop on Transdisciplinarity in South Africa, bringing together 30 leading academics from all the major universities in South Africa and facilitated by Basarab Nicolescu (quantum physicist from the University of Paris, France) and Manfred Max-Neef (previous rector of the University of Valdivia, Chile, and renowned ecological economist). One of the concrete outcomes of this workshop has been the development and implementation of a Transdisciplinary DPhil degree in Sustainability Science at the University of Stellenbosch (South Africa). He is on the team of experts putting together this post-graduate degree and he is in constant contact with others, such as Basarab Nicolescu and Manfred Max-Neef, who are also involved in implementing and participating in similar post-graduate programs at the Universities of Cluj (Romania) and Valdivia (Chile) respectively. He attended the Second World Congress on Transdisciplinarity in Brazil in September 2005 and delivered a paper on the rationale and importance for implementing a DPhil in Transdisciplinary Studies specifically at the University of Stellenbosch.

Eric Weislogel
Ph.D., is the Executive Director of the Metanexus Institute, Bryn Mawr , Pennsylvania , USA. Prior to joining Metanexus, Weislogel was assistant professor of philosophy at the Indiana University of Pennsylvania, and also taught at St. Francis College (PA) and the Pennsylvania State University. He has published a number of philosophical essays and reviews. Weislogel's main philosophical interest consists in the interplay of postmodernism, religion, science, and metaphysics.

Space and Time Concepts in the Contemporary Physics' (Univ. Bucharest). At the present PhD student in History of Religion and Orthodox Theology at LMU Munich on the subject-matter of apophatic anthropology.

Radu Constantinescu

Prof. Radu Dan Constantinescu, PhD, is Vice-rector of the University of Craiova, responsible for the supervision of the research activities. He acted, on behalf of his institution, as local coordinator in many European Programmes, including: the EMSPS - a mobility programme for students in physics that was initiated by the European Physical Society; the EUPEN- an inter-universitarian European network; the TEMPUS Project M-JEP 0973/95 which involved six Romanian Universities and twelve institutes from EU countries. As director of CDST, he also coordinated two programmes initiated by CTNS and by John Templeton Foundation. Presently he is the SOCRATES/ERASMUS coordinator for the same University. He is Grant winner of the GPSS 'Major Award Programme' with the theme Knowledge of the Universe: between reality and a mental construct.

John Lincoln Downie

Born in 1971 into a Reformed Presbyterian family in USA, he was raised and went to Geneva College for three years for Philosophy and Biology. He was involved in the school's literary magazine, was a student assistant in the Humanities course and became a member of the Alpha Khai fraternity for academic excellence. Following college he became involved in playing and composing music and was involved in sub-cultural movements of urban America. After a series of events, he became very interested in the Orthodox Church, and moved to the Holy Mountain of Athos in 1999 and remained for two years, deepened my experience in Orthodox spirituality, and ultimately was baptized into the Orthodox Church. Leaving the Holy Mountain in 2001, he enrolled and finished the pastoral theological program offered at the University of Bucharest with good marks. He is currently finishing my master's degree in theology and teaching business English in diverse multinational companies (Ericsson, Motorola, OMV, ANTAL).

Liviu Drugus

Economist by academic degree, researcher by vocation, university professor by profession and transmodern/transdisciplinary thinker by belief. Author of the EMMY (End Means Methodology) created in the 80s and launched at international level in 1990. Tibor Fabiny

Professor Dr. Tibor Fabiny is the Chair of the Department of Hermeneutics at the Károli Gáspár University of the Reformed Church, Budapest where he also teaches English Renaissance Literature, especially Shakespeare's dramas. He has had a long interest in the interdisciplinary approaches of literature, religion, and arts. He was Fulbright Visiting Scholar at Princeton Theological Seminary in 2004 and Copenhagen scholar-in-residence at Roanoke College VA USA in 1993 and 2006. He has worked closely together with the Centre for Theology, Literature and the Art, formerly at the University of Durham, currently at the University of Glasgow, UK. He is the author of a book in English and two other monographs in Hungarian as well as numerous articles related to literature and theology.

James F. McGrath

Assistant Professor of Religion at Butler University in Indianapolis. His PhD from the University of Durham on the Christology of the Gospel of John was published by Cambridge University Press under the title John's Apologetic Christology. In addition to publications on the Gospel of John, early Christology and Jewish monotheism, and the historical figure of Jesus, Dr. McGrath has contributed chapters on religious themes in science fiction to several recent books, and has two studies forthcoming on the relationship between religion and theology on the one hand, and possible future developments in artificial intelligence on the other. Corina Grecu

Assistant drd. Corina Grecu graduated the Faculty of Automatics and Computers of the "Lucian Blaga" University in 1994 and the "Andrei Şaguna" Orthodox Theological Faculty of the same University. Since 2005 she has been a doctoral student of this theological Faculty, trying to analyze the connection between informatics and theology. She has been an assistant professor for Christian informatics since 2000.

Razvan Ionescu

He is a Bachelor of Theatre and Theatre Science. In 2003 he gained the scientific title of Doctor in Theatre Science of the National University of Theatre and Film Arts "I.L. Caragiale" of Bucharest (Suma cum Laude), with the dissertation "Values of the Sacred between the Ceremonial and the Theatrical Transfiguration. A Restoring Contribution Brought to the Priorities". He is an actor of the National Theatre "I.L. Caragiale" of Bucharest and Conferential Lecturer of "Ovidius" University in Constanta, The Faculty of Orthodox Theology. He published a number of articles in the daily media and speciality periodicals in Romania and abroad. Ioan Macri

He was born in Ploiesti, Romania in 1939. In 1967 he graduated from the Technical University of Civil Engineering Faculty of Geodesy. In 1984 he earned a Ph.D. in Informatics from the Petroleum Gas University of Ploiesti, his field was Mathematical Modeling, Optimisation Algorithms and Fuzzy Systems. In 1997 he acquired a degree in theology from the University of Bucharest, the St. Theresa Faculty in the field of catholic theology. He is at present an associate professor for Topography, GPS and Cadastral Studies with the University for Petroleum Gas.

Fr. Dorin Oancea

Fr. Prof. Dr. Dorin Oancea studied philology and theology in Sibiu, Bucharest, Cluj, Mainz and Heidelberg. He is professor for the History and Philosophy of Religion at the "Andrei Şaguna" Faculty for Orthodox Theology in Sibiu. For the time being he is the dean of the faculty. He has been very active in the ecumenical movement and is interested in translating Orthodox thinking in the categories of modern reflection. His main interest is related to the theology of religions.

Fr. Aurel Pavel
Born in 1959 in Buciumi, Salaj, Romania. He studied Theology in Cluj Napoca and Sibiu (Romania) and at the Institute of Catholic Theology and at the University Paris IV Sorbonne. He obtained his Doctorate Degree in 1999 in Sibiu. Fr. Pavel is the author of several books and articles in field of Old Testament Studies, Missiology, Pastoral Care and Ecumenism. He took part on several national and international Congresses. Presently he is professor of Missiology and Ecumenism at the Orthodox Theological Faculty "Andrei Şaguna" in Sibiu, Romania.

Ioana Carmen Popescu
On 1993 she graduated the Inorganic Chemical Technology Section from the Faculty of Technological Chemistry belonging to the "Politehnica" University of Bucharest as engineer chemical technology. Until now her current activity is focused on the rare and radioactive metals research. Since 2001 she is Ph. D. student at the Organic Chemistry Centre „Constantin Neniţescu" from the Romanian Academy and her PhD thesis is on uranium's complexes with organic ligands. In the same year she got involved into the dialogue between science and religion. Her papers and communications in country and abroad focused on the rare and radioactive metals researches beside the ones concerning the dialogue between science and religion, love from chemical and orthodox viewpoint, science ethics and its' return to Christian values and so on. Fields of interest: dialogue chemistry/religion, relationship between the human being and the environment, God's creation from the chemistry and orthodox theology viewpoint, chemistry and apophasis, relationship between chemistry and the Ancient Egyptians' religion, etc.

Magda Stavinschi
Astronomer, former director of the Astronomical Institute of the Romanian Academy (1990-2005), she is President of the Association for the Dialogue between Science and Theology in Romania. She is also Director of the John Templeton Foundation Program "Science and Orthodoxy: Research and Education". She is the president of the international Commission "Astronomy Education and Development" (2009-2012); member of the International Astronomical Union, founder member of the European Astronomical Society and its councilor for 2000-2004, Chair of the EAS South East Branch for SEE (from 2000), chair of the international working group „Astronomy and cultural heritage", member CIRET (International Center for Transdisciplinary Research). She was awarded with Special Recognition Award: "Global Perspectives on Science and Spirituality: A Program of the Université Interdisciplinaire de Paris and Elon University with funding from the John Templeton Foundation." (2005) and she is Officier de l'Ordre National du Mérite, France. She was editor or coeditor of the books "Science and Religion. Antagonism or complementarity? (2003), Romanian Perspectives on Science and Theology" (2006), "Science and Orthodoxy: a Necessary Dialogue" (with Basarab Nicolescu, 2006) and coordinator with. He has been awarded a Fulbright Grant (2005) and was invited professor in USA, France, Italy, etc. He was a committee program member at international journals and conferences, reviewer at international journals and conferences. His research interests are: natural language processing, computer supported collaboration, artificial intelligence, human computer interaction, science-religion dialogue, philosophy.
